LifeofaQualifiedNurse
Великобритания
Добавлен 23 авг 2011
My name is Natasha and I have been qualified for 6 years but am just returning to nursing after a 3 year break that I choose to have after having my children.
I started this vlog way back when I was a student but I have neglected it in recent years as I felt that I couldn't upload when I wasn't working and didn't have the up to date information and insights.
I just really hope my channel can help many student nurses to develop their understanding and knowledge and build upon what you are already learning in uni and placement.
I love to hear from you so please comment and share any videos you want me to make. I am here for you guys.

Anatomy and Physiology Student Nurses Should Know
When you start university and open up your text books it can be overwhelming to see all the A&P there is to learn. I remember wondering where on earth to start, what I should look at first and what was most relevant to me as a paediatric nurse? So in this video I try to narrow down what you need to know with a brief look at the systems and anatomy you need to know as well as some common illnesses and diseases that relate to them. I really hope this helps. If it does, please let me know in the comments below.

Understanding Paediatric Observations
Просмотров 5673 года назад
I think it's really important to not only know how do take observations accurately and be able to recognise when something is in the normal range or not, but to really understand how to assess the whole child, why you are doing observations and what they may be telling you about a child. In this video I talk a little about the most common observations we are looking at and how to assess a child...

Can I Have a Job While at Nursing School?
Isn’t there always a small amount that passes to the brine regardless?
I sent my readmission yesterday but not been added back as yet 😢
Life saver !
As an overseas nurse with lapsed PIN wishing to be readmitted, the process is really making me dizzy. I had to get a representative on the phone while I fill up the online application. And I'm still nowhere near done! The most annoying bit really is the character reference. I do have a friend in the UK who is also a RN with an active PIN so that's covered. Current employer is good too since I am working as a RN here in my home country. The tricky one is the approved signatory. Like I'm not in the UK anymore so who would even be qualified to be listed here for me? They did not even consider that.
I am a Nurse but I hate my job. This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 7 months ago about self development. Now I have 702 subs and > 200 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place. This channel also inspired me to upload my recent videos to share my opinions about the main things that truly impacted the way I live. They're a couple of my most vulnerable videos that I've been hesitant to post for many months because of the fear of being misunderstood but I finally decided to overcome that fear so others can learn from my experience so we can all grow together. They're packed with valuable information about the relationship between a job and happiness.
Thanks mamy
My dog has Diabetes insipidus and her urine was just water basically I've started her on the meds
after 12 years in colonies , I worked in ER/IR/OR/Carh lab\ and psych Im done ! fell so good
Hi I know these vids are over 5 years ago but I just wanted to say that this has been the most helpful vid so far! I haven't been very successful in terms of uni interviews so far but this one has definitely made me a lot more prepared, I have my interview tomorrow so thanks so much for this.
It's the fibula hun not fibia, 🙂
Thank you for this video! It came up as I tried looking for things I should know. I intend to go into adult care, so can imagine there's a ton more diseases etc to look-up but this is a good starting point for anatomy.
This was helpful
Hi! I'm currently in Canada and I'm planning to do the readmission so that I can go back to UK. My problem is also the CPD hours, how did you earn your CPD hours and where did you sign up to do it?
Additionally, how did you compute your working hours? I worked April 2018- March 2021 full time.
@@carolynloquez3501 then you do have more than 750 hrs over 5 years. The cpd use your training hrs and any reflection you did
Thank you!
Thank you very much (:
I'm you new subscriber thanks for sharing
My pin lapsed too. I haven’t worked for 18 months because of my daughter’s birth and I forgot to pay the fee… now my problem is that being outside work for 18 months I don’t have any recent contact who can declare good health and character. How did you do it?
You are magic! Thank you so much for helping. I appreciate your excellent explanations.
Brilliant video, thank you 🙏🏽
This is an amazing video, thanks so much.
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful. :)
I've just realised that I uploaded the unedited version - how embarrassing! annoyingly I can't find the one I edited so will try to edit it again soon.
I’ve just done my readmission today so I hope my process is as easy as yours was!
Thank you!!!
You're welcome! x
As a first year paediatric nurse in the UK this was massively helpful! Thank you so much.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching. I want to make more videos that are helpful so if you have any suggestions let me know and I will try my best to make some more videos.
Thank you, very helpful video
Glad it helped.
I have gotten two offers for university kingston and buckinghamshire
Yay! Well done. Both good universities with good reputation and placement options.
@@LifeofaStudentNurse hi do you know what the placements days are like at Kingston? And is kingston a good uni to go to for mental health nursing?
You are so cool!
You are so lovely! Love the bilirubin video from way back :) Have a great day!
Thank you.
Finally someone showing the long division so my brain gets it :)
Glad it was helpful. I try to make is as basic as possible for those like me who didn't get it until one day it clicked.
Currently deciding if I should go into nursing.... retaking my maths GCSE again after 5 years.
Wishing you all the best.
This is a Very helpful video.👍
Thank you.
Had an interview today and this helped me so much🙏🏽
How did you find your interview? 🙂
@@Eva12218 Went really well! Have you had any?
@@-liamx2208 I have to do one this week and one in March also. So nervous for it!! Glad to hear yours went well. Can't wait until all interview stuff is out of the way😂
Sorry for the replay replying. I hope your interview went well. So glad this video helped.
Great video thank you very much :)
Thank you. I am so glad it's helpful.
@@LifeofaStudentNurse Haha I put that comment ages ago where ya been hiding? 😂 Thanks again 😉
To change grams in to milligrams do times by 1000 or 100
Sorry for the relay in replying. You x1000, moving 3 decimal places to the right. so 1g becomes 1000mgs.
Thank you so much this literally made me feel better about the interviews i have coming up.
Sorry for the relay in replying. I hope your interview went well. I'm glad this video helped you.
This only works if the displacement value is per the volume you are trying to make which is very unlikely to ever happen in real life or in an exam
I don't fully understand what you mean by the displacement value being per the volume. These are examples of medications I drew up at work all the time. All our IVs worked like this. You might have 1g in 20mls with a displacement value of 0.6mls so you add 19.4mls to get your 1g in 20mls. Then the child may only require 480mgs and you then work out how many mls you give the child. But in this video I am not doing IV drug calculations, I am just focussing on displacement values.
@@LifeofaStudentNurse what I mean is displacement values are done to a certain volume. for example 0.05/5ml. So I assume the displacement value you are provided are specific but in displacement calculations, you would have to make sure you have the value to the correct volume
Hi my pin is lapsed..... They haven't asked the signatore to confirm anything is that okay
Thank you
My registration lapse last year what do I need to do to get back on
If you have done 750 hours in the last 5 years and 35 CPD hours in the last 3 years you can login to NMC online and apply for readmittance. If you haven't done that you will have to complete a return to practice course. They are usually 12 weeks and around £2000.
@@LifeofaStudentNurse Thanks! luckily I've done that because I'm practicing outside the UK.
Explaining very nicely mam! Respect from Pakistan. 🇵🇰
I’ve just left hospital with this issue. Basically I’ve been stressed and not been eating for days , I collapsed last night and taken to hospital. After bloods and urine done I was told about the ketones problem ..... your video made things even more clear for me to understand..... cheers

Thank you so much I’m just thinking about starting this process.
You're welcome. Yes, I didn't know anything about the process so I thought it would be worth making a video about so others can have some idea what it involves.
